Larry and Virginia Rigsby began their journey of raising Angus cattle in 2010. Their initial operation was in Chickamauga, Georgia as Circle R Cattle. They relocated their farm in 2015 to the beautiful Sequatchie Valley in southeast Tennessee, just over the mountain from Chattanooga, Tennessee. They changed the name of their farm to Sequatchie Valley Angus.
Rigsby's family roots are in this valley. His great grandfather raised cattle just miles from their current Farm on the Sgt. Alvin York highway. Rigsby was always in awe of his great grandfather and remember the stories of him doctoring cattle and driving them over the mountain ridge to the stockyard in Chattanooga.
Rigsby's been dedicated to producing superior Angus cattle. They've developed a program centered around producing high-quality breeding stock. They strive to focus on producing a cowherd known for great maternal influence. They insisted on cattle known for docility. This is evident when we are showing bulls, working, or loading cattle. We have developed a strong AI and embryo transfer program.
We are grateful to be Cattle Farmers. The friends we have made, and the opportunity to work with the Land and with these amazing cattle is priceless. We consider ourselves blessed!
